Two Persons Arrested In Connection With Drug-Related Overdose In Brunswick

They’re  charged with distribution of fentanyl.

Brunswick, Md (KM) Brunswick Police made two arrests recently in connection with a tragic incident late last year. Steven Wayne Best Jr.,  22, of Brunswick was taken into custody on May 3rd, charged with distribution of fentanyl. His charge is based on a Frederick County Circuit Court indictment.

On April 29th, officers arrested Sierra Pompell, 24, of Boonsboro on a Washington County Circuit Court indictment.. She is charged with distribution of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of fentanyl.

The charges stem for an incident on December 13th, 2023 when police responded to a home in Fiona Way in Brunswick for a report of a cardiac arrest. Despite efforts by emergency medical technicians, the victim died. Authorities say their investigation determined the victim succumbed to  a drug-related overdose.

Brunswick Police say they worked with other agencies and conducted an “exhaustive” investigation into the  circumstances surrounding this overdose. That gathered evidenced which led to the indictments of Best and Pompell

Best has been released on personal recognizance. Pompell is free on $20,000 unsecured personal bond.
