Gaithersburg, MD (From Montgomery County Police) – “19-year-old Sean Charles Wright IV has been arrested and charged with committing an armed carjacking and multiple armed robberies on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
On Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at approximately 8:02 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the 7100 block of Democracy Boulevard for the report of an armed carjacking.
The preliminary investigation by detectives determined that Wright IV, who was described as wearing a black Scarface t-shirt, allegedly approached the victim, who was inside of his gray Toyota Sienna minivan and got into the passenger seat. Wright IV then lifted his shirt, implying he had a handgun and demanded the victim get out of his vehicle and leave the keys. The victim complied with the demands and Wright IV drove away from the scene in the minivan.
At approximately 9:18 a.m., officers from the Rockville City Police Department responded to the 100 block of Rollins Avenue for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Wright IV, entered the store, walked behind the counter and demanded that the employee open the cash register. When the employee refused, Wright IV grabbed cash that was on the counter and left the scene in the stolen Toyota Sienna.
At approximately 9:25 a.m., a 2nd District officer was in the 11500 block of Rockville Pike for a separate call for service when they observed a black male, matching the description of the carjacking suspect running from the 7-Eleven located in the same shopping plaza. When the officer observed Wright IV get into the stolen Sienna minivan, the officer approached the vehicle and demanded he get out. Wright IV got out of the vehicle and attempted to run away. Following a brief foot pursuit, Wright IV was taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed that at approximately 9:25 a.m., Wright IV reportedly entered the 7-11 in the 11500 block of Rockville Pike, reached over the counter, assaulted an employee, and demanded cash from the register. Wright IV then left the scene of the incident with the stolen cash and was subsequently observed by the officer in the area, leading to his arrest.
Wright IV was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with armed carjacking and multiple accounts of armed robbery.”
