One Man Shot And Killed During Road Rage Incident On July 4th

Two other people were injured.

Taneytown, Md (KM) The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office continues its investigation of an incident near Taneytown Thursday night which led to shots being fired, and one person dead.

Just after 10:00 PM on July 4th, deputies, State Police, Taneytown Police and fire and rescue responded to Bear Run Road and Runnymede Road for a report of a shooting. Authorities say it all began as a road rage incident between the occupants of a sedan and a pickup truck along Route 140 east of Taneytown. The two vehicles followed each other along Bear Run Road near Runnymede Road where they stopped.

Some occupants got out, and began fighting. A handgun was fired several times, striking three people.   A 36-year-old man with a Westminster address was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other men were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds that are considered non-life threatening.

A 33-year-old woman who was injured, but not by gunfire, was also taken to the hospital. An 18-month-old inside one of the vehicles was transported to the hospital as a precaution.

There were no other injuries.

No charges have been filed as the detectives with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division are continuing their investigation.
