PSC Sets Up E-Mail To Receives Comments About Md Piedmont Reliability Project

The company which plans to build the line has not formally applied to the PSC for authorization.

Baltimore, Md (KM) An e-mail account has been set up by the Maryland Public Service Commission to take comments regarding the proposed Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project. That’s a nearly 70-mile long, 500-kilovolt transmission line which is proposed to run from Baltimore County, through Carroll County and the southern part of Frederick County.

The e-mail address to provide comment is [email protected].

In a statement, the PSC says the company planning to build the line, PSEG, has not filed an application before the Commission, and there’s no case pending before the PSC. But the Commission will receive comments on the project, and these comments will be added to the public file after the company has made application.

PSEG held sessions this past week in the three affected counties to get public feedback. The PSC says it’s  not overseeing them. But when PSEG files an application to get authorization to construct the line, hearings will be held, giving citizens an opportunity to comment.

The Commission says it will provide notice of these hearings through its website (psc.state.md.go.us), the news media and social media. It encourages members of the public to get involved in the process and offer their input.
