Finksburg, Md (KM) A Finksburg man was arrested on Saturday for setting a fire in Carroll County. Joseph Affayroux, 42, is charged with 2nd-degree arson, malicious burning and malicious destruction of property. He’s currently being held without bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says on Friday, July 12th at 4:01 PM, 25 fire fighters from the Reese Volunteer Fire Company responded to a building on fire at 3154 Baltimore Boulevard in Finksburg, and found a commercial storage trailer in the rear fully involved in flames. They spent 30 minutes bringing the fire under control. Damage is estimated at $1,000, .
The fire was ruled an arson and Affayroux was named as the suspect. .
The Fire Marshal’s Office says investigators also identified Affayroux as a suspect in several trash fires earlier in the week in the Liberty Reservoir as well as a dumpster fire at Wards Chapel Road and Maryland Route 26, an office of the Baltimore Environmental Police.
Deputy State Fire Marshals say they obtained an arrest warrant of Affayroux. Maryland State Troopers were able to locate Affayroux on Saturday, and take him into custody.
