Brewery on the grounds of the Linganore Wine cellars considered a total loss.
Mount Airy, MD (JK) – The Red Shedman Brewery in Mount Airy was completely destroyed by an early Thursday morning explosion and fire.
Frederick County Fire and Rescue responded to a call of a small building blaze on the grounds of the Linganore Wine cellars in the 13 thousand 600 block of Glissans Mill Road. Witnesses on the property reported hearing a loud explosion. Firefighters arrived and encountered heavy fire coming from a much larger building, and requested a tanker task force.
Additional fire crews responded to the scene from Montgomery, Howard and Carroll counties. 45 firefighters battled the blaze for about 2 hours before it was contained and the main part of the fire was extinguished.
Officials from the Fire Marshall’s Office are still investigating the cause. The brewery building was deemed to be a total loss, with damages estimated to be about 800 thousand dollars. No one was injured in the fire.
