Drug Take Back Day To Take Place In Frederick County

It will be held on Saturday, October 26th.

Frederick, Md (KM) The US Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th. The Frederick County Health Department says it’s an opportunity for residents to safely dispose of dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

Citizens can dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications in pill form only. They can also get rid prescription patches, pet medicines in pill form, and sharps, including syringes, needles, lancets and auto injectors. But these sharps must be separated from all other medications.

The drive-through event will take place at the Frederick County Health Department at 350 Montevue Lane, and the Maryland State Police Barrack at 110 Airport Drive. The hours are from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

The Health Department says this event is not intended for businesses, clinics or medical and health care facilities.

Citizens should dispose of these medications in their original containers, and remove any identifying information from the prescription label. Regarding sharps, residents should have an approximate count of how many that are beingĀ  disposed.
