Frederick County Grand Jury Issues Six Indictments

One is against a Frederick man charged with possessing explosives without a license.

Frederick, Md (KM) Six indictments were returned on Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury.

The panel charged John Timothy Lightfield, 20, of Frederick , with several counts of possession of explosive materials with the intent to make explosive devices, possession of explosives without a license, reckless endangerment and possession of a false government document.

LIghtfield was arrested on Monday, April 28th at his home on Willow Avenue. The Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office served a search warrant on Lightfield’s apartment, and found quantities of black powder, potassium nitrate and several PVC pipes which can be used to make explosives.

In another case, the Grand Jury charged Carl Terrance Mobley, Jr., 42, of Walkersville, with possession of a firearm with a felony conviction; illegal possession of a regulated firearm; possession of a firearm for drug distribution; use of a firearm in drug trafficking; having a loaded handgun on his person; having a handgun on his person; illegal possession of ammunition; being a rogue and a vagabond; theft less than $100; and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine.

Mobley was arrested on Wednesday, April 23rd after a citizen complained that he was tampering with her car in the 500 block of North Bentz Street in Frederick. She told police she saw a man sitting inside her car smoking a cigarette. When he was confronted, the man fled. Officers located Mobley and took him into custody. Authorities say they recovered quantities of crack cocaine, a digital scales and a loaded handgun after they searched the suspect.

Other indictments returned by the Frederick County Grand Jury on Friday include:

*Shaun Reginald Spruill, 40, of Hagerstown, Md., who is charged with 2nd-degree rape without consent; 2nd-degree rape of a helpless and impaired individual; 3rd-degree sex offense of a helpless and impaired individual; 4th-degree sex offense; 2nd-degree assault; having a fraudulent identity to avoid prosecution for an offense which occurred on April 13th, 2025.

*Jaylin Elijah Matthews, 20, of Frederick, Md., who is charged with three counts of 2nd-degree general burglary; three counts of conspiracy to commit 2nd-degree general burglary; two counts of theft between $100 to $1500; one count of theft scheme of between $100 to $1500; and conspiracy to commit theft scheme between $100 to $1500 for offenses which occurred between September 30th, 2024 and October 1st, 2024.

*Gabriel Ernest Cruz-Romero, 19, of Frederick, Md,, who is charged ten counts of 2nd-degree general burglary; ten counts of conspiracy to commit 2nd-degree general burglary; six counts of theft between $100 and $1500; four counts of theft scheme between $1500-$25,000; and one count each of conspiracy to commit theft scheme between $1500 and $25,000′ and theft scheme between $1500 and $25.000 for offenses which occurred between September 30th, 2024 and October 22nd, 2024.

*Samuel Enrique Diaz-Pedreanez, 19, of Frederick, Md, who is charged with 13 counts of 2nd-degree general burglary; 13 counts of conspiracy to commit 2nd-degree  general burglary; eight counts of theft between $100 to $1500; one count of conspiracy to commit theft scheme between $100 and $1500; four counts of theft between $1500 and $25,000; one count of theft scheme between $1500 and $25,000; and conspiracy to commit theft scheme between  $1500 and $25,000 for offenses committed between September 30th, 2024 and October 22nd, 2024.

These cases now move to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled.

The Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office says indictments are charging document alleging criminal conduct, and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
