Residents urged to avoid the waters.
Frederick, Md (KM) Residents who live in the Linganore Community are strongly urged to avoid an area of the lake due to a sewage overflow. The Frederick County Health Department says that area is from southwest of Coldstream Beach to the dam. It says residents and visitors should avoid swimming and full body immersion in this part of the lake.
Anyone who comes in contact with the water should wash themselves thoroughly with soap and warm water, especially before eating. The Department says pet owners should keep their pets away from these waters.
Signs are posted around the overflow area, and residents and visitors should stay away from now until June 2nd.
Boating and fishing are still permitted in that part of Lake Linganore. Fish may still be safe to consume after they’re cleaned, scaled and cooked.
