Join us for a FREE public event honoring the 100th birthday of legendary local bladesmith William “Bill” F. Moran, Jr. on Saturday, May 31, 2025! 🎂
This exciting celebration will take place from 10 AM – 4 PM at the William F. Moran, Jr. Museum & Foundation and the W.F. Moran Bladesmith & Artisan Academy in Middletown, Maryland. 🏛️
🎉 Event Highlights:
• Live Blacksmithing Demonstrations – Watch skilled artisans at work in Moran’s original shops! 🔨
• 100 Knives on Display – For this special event, the museum will showcase 100 of Moran’s knives, each representing a year of his life! 🔪
• Commemorative Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at noon 🎀
• Birthday Cake – Celebrate with us and enjoy a slice of cake to honor Bill’s legacy 🎂

Moran was known for reviving the art of knife forging in the U.S., including the creation of Damascus steel. He didn’t just make knives; he passed on his craft by founding the American Bladesmith Society to teach others and preserve the tradition. 🛠️
