The deadly accident happened on Route 30
Westminster, Md. (DG) – A deadly crash in Carroll County is under investigation by Maryland State Police.
It happened around 7:45 a.m.Friday on Route 30 and involved three vehicles. According to investigators, a Ford pickup truck heading south veered into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons, hitting a Chevrolet dump truck. The dump truck then collided with a Chevrolet pickup.
The crash killed 25-year-old Nicholas Standiford of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, the driver of the Chevrolet pickup, at the scene. A passenger in the dump truck was rushed to Carroll Hospital Center and later pronounced dead. The dump truck driver and another passenger were flown to Shock Trauma for treatment.
Route 30 was closed for five hours. .
