Hagerstown, Md (KM) The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Hagerstown man with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor. Joshua Andrew Mills, 35, was taken into custody on Wednesday. He’s being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office says its Digital Investigations and Forensics Unit and Criminal Investigations Unit took part in an on line undercover operation looking for individuals trying to exploit minors. They posed as children, and communicated with persons who believed they were talking to kids. Authorities intervene when one of those perpetrators arranges a day and time for a meeting. The Sheriff’s Office says that’s how Mills was arrested.
In a news release, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office says this case highlights the dangers that exist on line for children. Authorities say they will continue to track down those who use the Internet to exploit vulnerable youth, and will continue to conduct these proactive operations to keep the community safe.
Anyone who has information or suspects Internet crimes involving children, should call the Sheriff’s Office at 240-313-2170.
