He’s expected to undergo additional surgery for his injuries.
Hagerstown, Md (KM) Hagerstown Police have identified the officer who was shot on Thursday in an incident which led to an hours-long standoff. He’s K9 Officer Langley Dean, a 19-year veteran of the department. Daniel Anderson, 40, of Hagerstown. is being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond in connection with the shooting. .
Anderson is charged with 22 offenses, according to the Maryland Judiciary case Search. They include attempted 1st-degree murder, attempted 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment and numerous firearms offenses.
After hisĀ arrest, Hagerstown Police say detectives and members of the Western Maryland Regional Crime Lab processed the scene, and recovered a 20-gauge shotgun. Authorities say Anderson fired the weapon at Officer Dean at close range, injuring him in the arm, and striking him the face, shoulder and head. Officer Dean will need additional surgery to repair his wounds, according to police.
He remains at Mertius Medical Center.
