It’s part of construction work on the bridge;
Hagerstown, Md (KM) There will be intermittent single-lane closures in both directions on the US Route 40 (National Pike) bridge near Hagerstown starting this Friday. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration says it’s part of the construction work on the Route 40 bridge over Interstate 70 in Washington County.
SHA says motorists can expect intermittent single-lane closures for about three weeks between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. All lanes are expected to reopen on Thursday, July 31st.
The contractor for the project, Triton Construction of St. Albans, West Virginia, will use electronic message boards, signs, barrels and cones to notify motorists about the work zone. Signs will guide motorists through the detour. Drivers are urged to slow down, and focus on driving safety when going through the work zones.
The work is expected to be completed by the end of the fall, weather permitting, SHA says.
