More than 982,000 people used Transit to get to their destinations.
Frederick, Md (KM) Fiscal year 2025 is being called a record-breaking year for Transit Services of Frederick County. That’s when more than 928,650 riders took Transit to get to their destinations. (Fiscal year 2025 occurred between July 1st, 2024 and June 30th, 2025)
The agency attributes this success to its dedication to provide accessible, community-centered transportation. And that’s due to innovative initiatives and a new look, Transit says.
“This just isn’t about numbers–it’s about people,”: says Roman Streichen, Director of Transit Services, in a statement.. “Every ride represents someone getting to work, school, medical care, or a favorite community event. We’re honored to play such an important role in the daily lives of people in Frederick County.”
Transit says being fare free helped in increasing ridership, but what also helped was expanding outreach and new marketing efforts. In fiscal year 2025, Transit launched a rebranding effort to modernize its image and strengthen its relationship with riders. With an expanded social media presence, Transit says it was able to reach new audiences.
At the same time, it refreshed its message about its role as an essential service for the community. This rebrand helped keep Transit at the top of most people’s minds as a practicable and enjoyable way to get around Frederick County.
‘Public transit works best when it feels approachable and convenient for everyone” says Mary Dennis, Communications Manager for Transit, in a statement. “By focusing on better ways to connect with out community—whether through a new look, clear and inviting language or an expanded social media presence–we’ve been able to meet riders where they are.”
For fiscal year 2026, Transit Services of Frederick County says it remains dedicated to connecting to more people, more opportunities and more communities.;
