Fees For Environmental Health Services Going Up Sept. 1st In Frederick County

Officials say it aligns the fees with program expenses.

Frederick, Md (KM) Environmental Health Service fees are going up in Frederick County starting September 1st, 2026. . This follows a new cost-of-service adjustment approved recently by the Board of Health.

Officials say this action better aligns the fees with program expenses, but still keep them lower than in other counties. These are the first fee adjustments since 2009. The Board agreed to revisit program costs every two years.

Among the fees which will go up are public pool inspections, well water testing, well permits, food services facility annual license and temporary food permits.

Even though other fees have gone up, the Health Department says the charge to vaccinate pets against rabies remains at $10.

“Our current fees do not account for inflation or the increased expenses of the past 15 years,” says Barry Glotfelty, Director of Environmental Services, in a statement.. “This new fee schedule puts us toward the middle of Maryland counties and will better help us cover our expenses while still not charge as much as other counties.”.
