Montgomery County Man Charged For Threatening His Nine-Year-Old Son With A Knife

Police say they used a taser on the man before rescuing his son.

Germantown, Md (KM) A nine-year-old boy who was held by his father at knife point was rescued last Saturday by Montgomery County Police Officers.

At around 10:14 PM on July 26th, 2025, officers were dispatched to  a home in the 19900 block of Stoney Point Way in Germantown for a domestic disturbance. A  caller stated that a man was inside the home threatening to kill his child.

Officers say they spoke with family members and tried to deescalate the situation. When they entered  the home, the man identified as Dugan Gokhan, 47. went into he kitchen and found a large knife which he held to his son. Police say they asked the man several times to drop the knife,  but  he  refused.

A sergeant with the Montgomery County Police 5th District armed with a taser entered the home and he too ordered  Gokhan to drop the knife. The man refused, and he was tased.   Officers were then were able to rescue the nine-year-old boy.

Gokhan was taken into custody, and charged with 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, 2nd-degree child abuse, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
