A Go-Fund Me Page has been set up to help the family
Frederick, Md. (DG) – Family, loved ones, and the community gathered Sunday night to remember 13-year-old Mason Kearns who died after being swept into a storm drain during Thursday’s flash floods.
A candlelight vigil was held at Watkins Park in Mount Airy to remember Mason and support the family.
Officials said Mason was playing with another child near the drainage pipe last week when stormwater rushed down the hill, pushing him into a drainage pipe. Due to the water pressure and size of the pipe, crews were unable to save him.
The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Co. has set up a donation box for the family at the firehouse at 702 N. Main St. They are requesting monetary donations and gift cards to from restaurants and grocery stores in Mt. Airy.. They are unable to accept premade food. There is also a Go-Fund-Me Page set up to help the family with funeral expenses.
