Man Charged in Rape, Bank Robbery In Montgomery County

34-year-old Carlos Hover

Rockville, MD (DG) – Montgomery County Police have tied a brutal gas station assault and a bank robbery to the same suspect.

The first case happened Thursday night, August 14th, when officers were called to a Rockville gas station for reports of a rape. Investigators say a man entered the store, attacked the lone employee, and sexually assaulted her before leaving in a Mazda SUV. Detectives documented his clothing and description as the search got underway.

The following morning, Friday, August 15th, police were dispatched to the Capital One Bank on Georgia Avenue in Wheaton after reports of an armed robbery. Officers arrested 34-year-old Carlos Hover of Washington, D.C., at the scene. When detectives compared details, they determined Hover matched the suspect from the Rockville assault.

He’s now charged with first-degree rape, first-degree assault, armed robbery, and resisting arrest.

Hover remains in custody without bond while investigators work to gather additional evidence.
