Victim was walking with two other men when he was shot down walking to the Foxhall Apartments.
Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section, are investigating the Tuesday, August 19, 2025, fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jaril Verde Murillo.
At approximately 11:28 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 700 block of University Boulevard East for the report of shots fired, followed by a call for a person down in the roadway.
Officers located Verde Murillo suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Verde Murillo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two additional males who were with Verde Murillo, were not injured.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Verde Murillo, who has no fixed address, and the two other males were walking along a path toward the Foxhall Apartments when unknown suspect(s) shot in the direction of the three teens and ran away. Verde Murillo collapsed in the roadway on University Boulevard East.
Verde Murillo was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where the cause and manner of death were determined to be homicide by gunshot wound.
At this time, there is no suspect information available, and no arrests have been made.
