Frederick, MD (DG) – A dangerous crime spree in Cascade, Maryland ended with a 16-year-old facing charges Sunday afternoon.
Investigators say the juvenile broke into multiple vehicles before setting a 1995 Ford F-350 on fire along Lake Wastler Drive. Firefighters quickly arrived and contained the flames, but the truck was heavily damaged, with losses estimated at $7,500.
The teen fled the scene but was tracked down a short time later at a nearby gas station by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities say surveillance video clearly showed him breaking into the vehicles and sparking the fire with an open flame.
After consultation with the Department of Juvenile Services, the teen was charged and later released to his guardians.
