Frederick Police Arrest Man Following A Struggle With Officers

Authorities recover a handgun and drugs.

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man was arrested early Saturday morning following a struggle with officers. Jamarie Ahkile  Parker, 27, was taken into custody, charged with drug and weapons offenses.

Police say at around 12:35 AM on Saturday, officers doing foot patrol in the 300 block of North Market Street were approached by a citizen who said a man dropped a handgun before picking it up and remaining in the area.

Officers found the man who tried to evade them by crossing the street. Police approached and say they noticed a handgun protruding from Parker’s center pocket. He was told to stop, but Parker continued to walk away. When they tried to detain him, officers say Parker continued to pull away, reaching to his waistband. Other officers came and a struggle took place.

Even after being taken into custody, police say Parker continued to resist, kicking at officers and yelling profanities.

Parker is charged with

Concealing a dangerous weapon

Having a Handgun on his Person

Having a Loaded Handgun on his Person

Disturbing the Peace/Hindering Passage

Disorderly Conduct

Failure to Obey Lawful Order

Disturbing the Peace/Disorderly Conduct

Resisting /Interfering with an Arrest

Firearm Possession with a Felony Conviction

Illegal Possession of a regulated firearm

Illegal Possession of Ammunition

Reckless Endangerment

Narcotics Possession-Not Cannabis

Possession of drug Paraphernalia

Authorities say a search of Parker’s satchel yielded crack cocaine, a digital scale and prescription pills.  They also recovered a loaded handgun.

He was taken to the Adult Detention Center.
