Man In Road Rage Incident In Washington County Charged With Attempted Murder

Authorities say he’s accused of shooting at another driver.

Hagerstown, Md (KM) A Tennessee man is behind bars in Washington County for a road rage incident. The Sheriff’s Office says Willie Laurence Wooten, 33, is charged with attempted 1st-degree murder (two counts) attempted 2nd-degree murder (two counts), 1st-degree assault (two counts), 2nd-degree assault (two counts) reckless endangerment from a motor vehicle, use of a firearm in a violent crime, carrying a loaded handgun and carrying a handgun on his person. .

On Wednesday afternoon at around 5:00 PM, deputies responded to the AC&T Fuel Center at 11560 Hopewell Road for shots fired. They learned that the driver of a tractor trailer identified as Wooten, and the operator of a pickup truck got into a confrontation on Interstate 70, which spilled over to I-81. The two vehicles got off at Hopewell Road where the driver of the tractor trailer fired shots at the pickup truck. The pickup was damaged, but no one was hurt.

Sheriff’s Deputies and Hagerstown Police Officers were able to locate Wooten and take him into custody. A handgun was found on the tractor trailer’s floorboards.
