Frederick County Health Department Asking For Help In Locating A Dog Which Bit A Man Over The Weekend

It occurred in the Holly Hills neighborhood.

Frederick. Md (KM)  The Frederick County Health Department says a  man was bitten by a dog at around 8:00 AM Saturday while running along Broadmoore Terrace North in Holly Hills. He was bitten on the thigh as he passed the dog.

The dog is described as between five and ten pounds, with short white and gray hair. This canine was with a second dog, described as a Yorkie. A blonde woman in her mid-50’s was walking the two dogs at the time.

If you have any information on this dog, you’re asked to contact Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544.

If the owner is contacted, the dog needs to be verified to be in good health ten days after the incident. If that’s the case, the dog can resume its normal activities., and the victim will not need to undergo expensive rabies treatment. If the owner cannot be contacted, the victim will be advised to undergo the  rabies treatment.

If you or a pet is bitten by an animal, the Health Department says get the owners name, address and phone u=number, and call Animal Control at 301-600-1544.    If  the animal is wildlife, contact your veterinarian, and call Environmental Health Services at 301-600-1717.

If you have been exposed to an animal which is confirmed to have rabies, or suspected of having rabies, call Community Health Services at 301-600-3342.
