Frederick, Md (KM) Work is expected to get underway on replacing the Md. 77 bridge over Beaver Branch and under the Maryland Midland Railway in Rocky Ridge.
The State Highway Administration says the new span will be wider and improve drainage. The cost of this bridge replacement is $7.1 million. .
The current bridge was built in 1928. SHA says while it’s considered safe for use, the span is nearing the end of its service life, and needs to be replaced.
Due to the confined work area, State Highway officials say a part of Md. 77 will be closed beginning on Monday, September 29th. Motorists will be detoured to Md. Route 76 (Motters Station Road), Appolds Church Road and Old Frederick Road. Trucks will be diverted to Md 77, Md 550 (Woodsboro Creagerstown Road) and Md 194 (Woodsboro Pike)
The project is starting construction this month, and the new bridge is expected to be completed by the summer of 2026, SHA says.
