Residents can get rid of items which could damage the local solid waste system.
Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Division of Solid Waste and Recycling is holding its fall Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off event on Saturday, October 11th. It will take place at the upper level parking lot of Keys Stadium at 21 Stadium Drive in Frederick from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The drop off is free of charge.
Officials say household hazardous wastes are items that could cause harm to the local solid waste system, including pesticides, herbicides, fluorescent bulbs, lithium-ion batteries, solvents and other items.
For anyone who is coming, they need to bring identification to show they live in Frederick County, and know what items they are disposing of. Lines can be long so be patient. Residents are urged to stay in their vehicles; no walk-ups will be accepted.
Residents who are coming need to enter Stadium Drive from New Design Road. Left-hand turns into the event are prohibited and could cause traffic delays and accidents.
Follow all signs and directions from County staff, and its on-site contractor.
There will be other Frederick County Government divisions which will be attending and will provide information about programs. Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services will be on hand to talk about battery fire safety.
A complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items to dispose of at the Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off Day can be found at FredeickCountyMD.gov/HHW.
