A Suspect Wanted For North Bethesda Homicide Arrested in North Carolina

Frederick, Md. (DG) – An arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava in North Bethesda.

Police say 18-year-old Joshua Carter was taken into custody on October 8th in Fayetteville, North Carolina, without incident. Investigators identified Carter as one of two suspects in Fontava’s September 21st death inside his apartment. He’s now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

The second suspect, 25-year-old Justin Collins, is still at large. Montgomery County Police are asking anyone with information on Collins’ whereabouts to come forward.
