Man Arrested For Killing Ex-Girlfriend In Montgomery County

A Silver Spring woman is dead and her ex-boyfriend is in custody after a shooting Sunday morning.

Rockville, Md. (DG) – A Silver Spring woman is dead and her ex-boyfriend is in custody after a shooting Sunday morning.

Montgomery County Police say officers responded to reports of shots fired on the 1700 block of Imperial Drive, where they found 47-year-old Monique Charles of Brooklyn, New York, suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined Charles was leaving the area when her ex-boyfriend, 47-year-old Earl Walker, allegedly shot her multiple times before fleeing. Police later located Walker near his Derwood home, but he refused to stop, leading officers on a brief chase that ended when he crashed his car. Walker was taken into custody with minor injuries, and police recovered a gun from his vehicle.

He’s been charged with first-degree murder and other related offenses.
