One Man Charged In Rockville Shooting

He says he tired to stop someone from stealing items outside of a house.

Rockville, Md (KM) The investigation continues into a shooting on Monday night in Rockville which sent one man to the hospital.

Police say just after 10:00 PM, officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Highwood Road for shots-fired. They found a man identified as Joel Alberto Cubias, 20,  trying  to stop someone who was stealing property from outside of the home. Over a dozen rounds were fired from a handgun, striking the individual    He had fled the scene before police arrived. and was later located at a nearby hospital in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Cubias was taken into custody, charged with attempted murder, 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault,. reckless endangerment, and firearms offenses,    Cubias was also charged with theft after police say he was in possession of a stolen motorcycle. police say.
