Fire breaks out in the 300 block of Chimneystone Court around 11:30 p.m.; no signs of criminal activity.

HAGERSTOWN, MD (JK). – One person has died following a late‐night house fire in Hagerstown, and state investigators say they are probing the cause. Firefighters were dispatched to the 300 block of Chimneystone Court at approximately 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and upon arrival found heavy fire and smoke.
Despite search efforts, crews later discovered a victim inside the home. The scene remained active into the early hours as the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office and its K-9 unit “Quinn” assisted in the investigation.
Authorities say at this time there is no evidence of foul play, and investigators are examining accidental causes.
The victim has been transported to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where a positive identification will be made.
Fire crews from multiple departments responded and worked through challenging conditions— including a partial roof collapse—before regaining control of the blaze.
The Fire Marshal’s Office says it will release a formal media statement once the investigation advances.
