O’Connor wins third term as Mayor; Democrats dominate City Council.

Frederick, Md (KM) The results of the 2025 Frederick City election were certified on Wednesday following three days of counting.
The Board of Supervisors of Elections says Democratic incumbent Michael O’Connor has won a third term as Mayor with 10, 453 votes or 73.85 percent, defeating Republican Tom Trott who took in 3, 615 votes or 25.54 percent..
The City Council will be all Democratic. Scott Lasher defeated Republican Joe Adkins for the District Four seat. Lasher received 3,147 votes or 69.44 percent. Adkins took in 1,375 votes or 30.34 percent.
Sarah Hempel Irani won out over Republican Rob Callahan for the District Five seat. She received 2,115 votes, or 68,85 percent. Callahan took in 948 votes or 30.86 percent.
The candidates for Districts One, Two and Three—Democrats Katie Nash, Cesar Diaz and Peter Brehm respectively—-as well as t he two at-large candidates—-Derek Shackelford and Libby Taylor—also Democrats—ran unopposed. .
According to the Board of Supervisors of Elections, there are 59,688 registered voters in the City of Frederick: 29,503 Democrats, 12,461 Republicans, 16,570 unaffiliated and 1,154 who are registered with other parties.
Inauguration Day is scheduled for December 11th. 2025 at 11:00 AM.
