Frederick County Circuit Court Judge Scott Rolle
Frederick, Md (KM) After years of work, Frederick County Circuit Court Judge Scott Rolle has completed his novel entitled “Prime Suspect.” He says it’s a murder mystery novel. “It takes place in downtown Frederick. There’s a young prosecutor who wants to get on a very high profile case of a congressman’s daughter that’s been murdered. He and his boss have some conflicts. Eventually, he gets it,” says Rolle
“And there’s a very interesting detective in here who sort of figures it out. It’s very much a whodunit with a surprise ending,:” he says.
Speaking recently on WFMD’s “Morning News Express” hosted by Bob Miller, Rolle says he’s been working on this book off and on for a few years. “I started this book about eight years ago. And I stopped and I started. and I stopped and I started. The problem with doing that is when you start up again after not even looking at it for a year, you start to thinking ‘what kind of rabbit hole was I going down? Where is this going?’ And you have to tie it back in,” he says.
Rolle told Bob Miller writing this book was not easy “The problem is, Bob, when you’re writing something like this, I re-wrote and edited it so many times. Finally, Brad Meltzer said you can stop. You’ll never not re-write it. In fact, you’re going to start making it worse.”
He said Novelist Brad Meltzer was his mentor for this project.
Judge Rolle also said this book is not a heavy read. “You will probably think maybe three different people were involved in it as you go along. I do try to put a little cliffhanger in the end. The goal was to make it an easy read. like by the pool, on vacation, something you can read in a couple of days: not real heavy; not real deep,” he says.
A launch event for the book, “Prime Suspect,” is scheduled for Thursday, November 20th beginning at 7:00 PM at Rockwell Brewery, 8411 Broadband Drive, Suite K in Frederick. Rolle says it will start with a question and answer session, and he will sign copies of the book. Anyone who wants to attend needs to go to https://www.eventbrite.com to purchase tickets.
The book will go on sale to the public the next day, Friday, November 21st.
