Columbia, Md. (DG) – Howard County police have charged a Guilford Park High School paraeducator with a third-degree sexual offense after investigators say he had a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old student off school property.
Detectives allege 26-year-old William Nelson II of Elkridge met the teen through a dating app and engaged in sexual intercourse in his vehicle on November 12. Police say the student reported the incident to school staff, who immediately contacted authorities. Nelson was arrested at the school the following day.
Investigators say there’s no indication the two had any prior interaction at the school before meeting on the app, but the case remains under active investigation. Nelson is being held at the Howard County Detention Center, and school officials say he was placed on administrative leave as soon as they learned of the allegation.
Police are urging anyone with information—or any other potential victims—to call 410-313-STOP.
