Baltimore, Md (KM) The Maryland Department of Health is reporting the first cold weather-related death in the state for this season of 2025-2026. It’s a man between the ages of 30 and 40. and the incident occurred in Frederick County.
The Department reminds residents to be prepared and protect themselves from cold weather illnesses such as frostbite and hypothermia. Citizens are urged to limit their time outdoors, and wear several layers of lightweight, insulated clothing to avoid exposure to the frigid temperatures. And make sure you protect your toes, fingers, ears, cheeks and the tip of your nose.
Marylanders in need of overnight shelter should contact their local health department or call 211 and provide their county and zip code. That will help provide information about available locations, hours of operation and accommodations, the Health Department says.
