Charges have been filed against a 19-year-old driver in connection with a fatal rollover crash that claimed the life of a Germantown woman last year.

Germantown, Md. (DG) – A 19-year-old is now facing charges in a deadly rollover crash that killed a Germantown woman last summer.

Police say the crash happened around 10:35 p.m. on July 21st at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Mateny Road. Investigators determined that Mary Moody was driving a Subaru and attempting to make a left turn when her vehicle was struck by a Mazda traveling northbound. The impact caused the Subaru to roll over, ejecting Moody from the car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Mazda’s driver, 19-year-old Brody Richardson of Boyds, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Detectives say Richardson was at fault, citing excessive speed and impairment as contributing factors. He now faces charges including manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide while under the influence, and other related offenses.
