Montgomery County Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run Near Columbia Pike

73-year-old woman killed; authorities seek public’s help identifying two vehicles involved.

Gaithersburg, MD (JK) – Montgomery County Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred Monday, January 12, 2026, near the intersection of Columbia Pike (Route 29) and Fairland Road.

At approximately 6:39 p.m., officers from the 3rd District and Fire Rescue personnel responded to reports of a pedestrian struck. Investigators have determined that an adult female was hit multiple times by the drivers of at least two separate vehicles, both of which fled the scene.

The vehicles involved are described as a maroon Toyota Tacoma, model years 2016-2023, and an older-model orange Ford Crown Victoria. The pedestrian, a 73-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities will release additional information, including the victim’s name, once next of kin have been notified.
