Frederick, MD (JK) – A long-anticipated hotel and conference center project is officially moving forward in Downtown Frederick.
Governor Wes Moore joined Plamondon Hospitality Partners and local elected leaders to break ground on a new full-service Marriott property along Carroll Creek, marking what officials describe as a major milestone for the city’s economic development and tourism growth.
The $104 million development is supported by $23 million in committed and proposed state funding across several fiscal years. Once complete, the project is expected to create about 200 direct, indirect, and induced jobs and spark more than $100 million in additional downtown investment. Over the next 25 years, leaders estimate the project could generate $1.5 billion in private sector spending and more than $4 million annually in state and local tax revenue.
Plans call for a 204-room Marriott flagship hotel, more than 26,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, and a 250-space public parking garage. The facility will be the only location in Frederick capable of hosting large-scale conferences and business summits under one roof.
The project comes as Frederick’s tourism economy continues to expand, with visitor spending reaching a record $564 million in 2024.
Construction is expected to wrap up in 2027.
