Damascus, MD (JK) – Montgomery County authorities are investigating a deadly crash that occurred Monday night in Damascus.
Police and fire rescue crews from the 5th District were called to Ridge Road, north of Sweepstakes Road, around 10:29 p.m. after reports of a multi-vehicle collision. When first responders arrived, they found the driver of a Toyota Camry in the roadway, having been ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of a Lexus NX350, an adult woman, was trapped inside her vehicle and required extrication. She was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A third vehicle, a Ford Fusion, was also involved, but its driver was not injured.
Witnesses reported that the Toyota had been traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident. Officials say additional information, including the name of the deceased, will be released after next of kin have been notified.
