Martinsburg, WV (JK) – Two individuals have been sentenced in separate federal drug cases tied to the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, according to U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey.
Courtney Stewart, 30, of Piedmont, was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison for her role in distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl in Mineral County and surrounding areas. Prosecutors say Stewart worked with Nelson Anthony Zambito, who supplied the drugs. A search of Zambito’s home led to the seizure of nearly 29 grams of methamphetamine and approximately one gram of fentanyl. Zambito pleaded guilty in October 2025 and is awaiting sentencing.
In a separate case, Crystal Lyn Lewis, 36, of Martinsburg, was sentenced to 40 months in prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. Authorities say Lewis worked with Delano Butler and others in a drug trafficking operation spanning the Eastern Panhandle.
That investigation resulted in the seizure of an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 pressed fentanyl pills, along with 14 firearms and other controlled substances. Butler pleaded guilty on April 10, 2026, and is also awaiting sentencing.
The cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher and involved numerous federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies as part of a broader effort targeting drug trafficking networks.
Officials say the cases are part of a nationwide initiative aimed at disrupting the flow of dangerous narcotics like fentanyl, which continues to pose a significant threat to public safety.
