Poolsville, MD (JK) – The Town of Poolesville is alerting residents to a suspicious email that falsely appears to come from an official town account.
According to town officials, multiple community members reported receiving a message that included a document shared through OneDrive from what looked like a legitimate Town Hall email address. After reviewing the reports, the town confirmed the email is not authentic and should not be trusted.
Residents are strongly urged not to open the document, click on any links, or download attachments associated with the message. Anyone who has already interacted with the file is advised to change their passwords immediately as a precaution.
Town officials say the warning is part of an effort to keep residents informed and protected from potential phishing scams and cybersecurity threats.
