Frederick, Md. (DG) – Firefighters in Frederick County battled a large commercial blaze Wednesday, after crews were called out around 12:20 PM to a bakery along the 8400 block of Bakery Way, just off Monocacy Boulevard.
When units arrived, they found an active fire inside the building and quickly began attacking the flames while also searching for anyone inside. Three people were safely helped out and checked by EMS, but no one needed to be taken to the hospital. As the situation grew, additional crews were called in, bringing the total response to about 80 firefighters from Frederick as well as Loudoun and Montgomery Counties.
It took nearly two hours to get the fire under control, with crews staying on scene even longer to fully put out hot spots and ventilate the building. Investigators later determined the fire was accidental.
