Sykesville, Md. (DG) – An arson investigation is underway after two fires were reported at a Maryland psychiatric hospital over the weekend.
According to officials, firefighters responded to the Springfield Hospital Center around 8 a.m. Saturday after reports of flames in two separate buildings. Authorities say both structures were vacant at the time.
The facility is operated by the Maryland Department of Health. Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office are now working to determine who may be responsible, and they are asking anyone with information to come forward.
