Drought conditions across Maryland are prompting a warning from state environmental officials. The Washington County Office of Emergency Management says the Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a drought warning for much of the state, including Washington County, because of ongoing rainfall deficits and continued dry weather.
Officials are encouraging residents to conserve water whenever possible as temperatures begin to rise heading into the warmer months. Suggested steps include limiting unnecessary outdoor watering, checking homes for leaks, and reducing overall household water use to help protect local water supplies during the drought conditions.
