A Loudoun County grand jury has indicted a Leesburg man on several new charges connected to the death of an 8-month-old girl.
Leesburg Police say 22-year-old Alvaro Mejia Ayala is now charged with aggravated murder, first-degree murder, suffocation, felony murder, and abduction of a minor. The charges stem from a September 17th, 2025 incident at a home on Hancock Place Northeast in Leesburg.
Investigators say the infant later died from injuries suffered during the assault. Ayala was originally arrested the same day and charged with strangulation.
He remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center while awaiting further court proceedings.
