The U.S. Marshals Service is searching for a woman convicted in the death of her 10-month-old daughter after she failed to appear for sentencing.
Authorities say 39-year-old Ashley Franklin was last seen in Hagerstown. A bench warrant was issued by the Washington County Circuit Court on August 13th of last year after Franklin did not show up for sentencing on convictions that include first-degree child abuse resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter.
Prosecutors say the charges stem from a 2021 case in which Franklin abused her 10-month-old daughter, leading to the child’s death. Franklin had been released on a 5-thousand-dollar bond before disappearing.
