A theft investigation at a Home Depot in Carroll County ended with the arrest of a Frederick County man.
Carroll County Sheriff’s deputies responded Tuesday afternoon to the Sykesville store on Londontown Boulevard after employees reported a theft in progress. Authorities say 47-year-old Steven Sales II pushed a cart of unpaid merchandise out of the store before being confronted in the parking lot. Deputies arrived shortly afterward and took him into custody.
Store employees also told investigators that Sales had earlier removed another item from the store and placed it in his vehicle. Deputies spotted a Home Depot battery pack in plain view inside the vehicle. The stolen merchandise was valued at more than one-thousand dollars.
Sales was charged with theft and later released on bond.
