MARTINSBURG, WV (JK) – A Martinsburg man is in custody after authorities say he carried out a series of violent crimes that began with an armed carjacking in Berkeley County and ended with his arrest following a Maryland bank robbery.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 30-year-old Jordon Redfern of Martinsburg.
Investigators say the incident began around 4:20 p.m. on May 31 at Roc’s Gas Station on Shepherdstown Road. A family had stopped to deal with a flat tire when Redfern allegedly approached them with a firearm, ordered them out of their vehicle, and drove away.
The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in Washington County, Maryland. Authorities say Redfern then allegedly carjacked a second vehicle before law enforcement called off a pursuit because of safety concerns.
The investigation continued across state lines until Redfern was arrested in Maryland following a bank robbery. Investigators later confirmed his identity and linked him to the Berkeley County carjacking.
No injuries were reported during the initial carjacking. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed as authorities in West Virginia and Maryland continue their work.
