A months-long homicide investigation has led to an arrest in the April shooting death of a Gaithersburg man. Montgomery County police say 18-year-old Earl Deangelo Charles Jr., of North Potomac, is charged with first-degree murder, armed carjacking, and using a firearm during a violent crime in the death of 32-year-old Christopher Gove.
Police responded to a home in the 12500 block of Carrington Hill Drive on April 9, where they found Gove suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital but later died. Investigators recovered a shell casing at the scene, and witnesses reported seeing a black vehicle leaving the area. A short time later, officers found Gove’s Toyota Highlander abandoned after a crash nearby.
Detectives say forensic testing later matched the shell casing to a firearm recovered in a separate Prince George’s County investigation, helping identify Charles as a suspect. He was arrested Monday by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and remains jailed pending a bond hearing.
