Gettysburg, PA (JK) – The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a woman who reportedly escaped from custody after being arrested in connection with a bad check case.
Authorities say 49-year-old Michelle Ramsburg escaped while in custody. As of Wednesday, officials had not released additional details about when or how the escape occurred, and no information has been provided about where she may be headed.
The case stems from an investigation by Lower Allen Township Police in Cumberland County. Investigators say Ramsburg wrote checks to Wiltech Automotive on Aug. 15 and Aug. 21, 2024, to pay for repairs to her vehicle.
According to police, when the business attempted to deposit the checks, it learned the bank accounts had already been closed. Investigators say multiple attempts were made to contact Ramsburg to resolve the matter, but she did not respond.
After Ramsburg failed to appear for a scheduled preliminary hearing, an arrest warrant was issued on Sept. 25, 2025. Police announced that the warrant was served on Feb. 19, 2026.
Court records show Ramsburg also had a plea hearing scheduled in Adams County during June.
Anyone with information about Ramsburg’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Adams County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency immediately.
