Frederick, MD (JK) – A Walkersville man has been arrested after authorities say he seriously injured another man during an assault at Loy’s Station Park in Rocky Ridge.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the park at about 6:22 p.m. Wednesday for a reported stabbing. They found an adult man suffering from serious injuries to his head and arm. He was taken to Meritus Medical Center and has since been treated and released.
According to investigators, the victim and suspect arrived at the park in separate vehicles before pulling into a parking area and becoming involved in an altercation. During the confrontation, detectives say the suspect produced a machete and slashed the victim.
Detectives identified the suspect as 36-year-old Michael Anthony Faya of Walkersville and obtained a warrant charging him with first-degree assault.
On Thursday, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in the 10700 block of Dublin Road, where Faya was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Lawson at 301-600-1046 or submit anonymous tips through the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 301-600-4131.
